Angry Birds and Bees
Sunday April 1st 2012Its fun peeking back into time and seeing things you had forgotten about, things that bring you to where your roots are, no matter the subject material your inspecting. In this case its a photo, the one below in fact. Most times of an evening here at Shipwreck Honey World Headquarters the observer may note that lights out/last call happens right around the 10 o clock hour BUT(!) what is not noted after that time is whats of greatest interest/fun; you see every night once the lights are out and the fire is cut to smoldering ember it is not time for sleep just yet: before sleep can be had, Angry Birds must first be conquered or at least the days' installment thereof (Rovio has rationed out the latest round of Summer Pignic in daily bites). Like a small boy being wooed to sleep with a story from his grandmother, I also am wooed accordingly except its exploding birds, nefarious/irresistable pigs and bonus points. Earlier this week it was that time of night but the battery was dead so instead of playing birds we glanced through a few photos from 2k10 and this one bubbled to the surface.
These are the first two Hives I ever built and curated, ever so carefully in a tiny hole scrabbled out of a relentless and thorny thicket. My how the times have changed for in that same spot now proudly sits the flagship yard, the Alki operation. I just love looking at stuff like this and compounding it to the future; next year Shipwreck Honey is adding upwards of 44 hives to its growing family and fleet. Its good being a Shipwreck Honeybee, dontcha think?
